It usually takes between 6 to 12 years to die of end stage liver failure once you're diagnosed.
However the lifespan of someone with end stage liver failure also depends on the persons age and other current health.
If the person who has end stage liver failure has other health issues and is above 65 years old then they may only live 5 to 10 years after the end stage liver failure diagnoses.
But if the person with the end stage liver failure is less than 65 years old and has overall better health then the person may live 12 years and sometimes a bit longer.
I knew a guy who had end stage liver failure who was 60 when he was diagnosed with the end stage liver failure and he lived 15 years after the diagnoses.
But not everyone makes it that long after end stage liver failure.
If you get a liver transplant then you may live longer but there's no guarantee that you will get a liver transplant.
