Can you change from 10 or 8 gauge wire to 12 gauge in a 20 amp circuit?

Since 12 gauge wire can handle 20 amps then you should be fine with changing it out to 12 gauge from the larger 10 gauge wire.

But larger wire certainly ain't gonna hurt.
