A Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice is a notice sent to the shipper of a package or packages that confirms the acceptance of the package or packages.

When you go online and buy postage for the packages and then take them to the post office or have them picked up you can get a Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice once the packages are accepted and on their way to the destination.

On November 10, 2006, the Postal Service Launched a new PC Postage® feature called "Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice" (SCAN).

Shippers can use this feature to obtain an "Acceptance" event for packages shipped using PC Postage applications. When a customer goes online to ship packages, a PS Form 5630, Shipment Confirmation

Acceptance Notice, is created at the end of the transaction.

This form has one barcode associated with all of the packages in the shipment.

The customer can give the packages to a letter carrier or bring the packages to the retail window or the back dock. When the Postal Service employee scans the barcode on PS Form 5630, every package in the shipment receives an "Acceptance" event from the Post Office™.
