Should disposable diapers fit above or below the belly button?

My 2 year old is in size 6 diapers and before he was in size 5 diapers and they fit above his belly button but the new size 6 Luvs diapers go just a few inches below his belly button.

Is the diaper too small for my 2 year old if the diaper is fitting below the belly button or should the diaper be above his belly button?

How do the diapers fit on your toddler?

On my 2 year old boy the diapers he wears fits where the top of the diaper waistband is about 2 inches below the belly button.

When he was a newborn and up to a year old his diapers fit over his belly button.

A diaper for a 2 year old that fits above his belly button may be too large.

Most toddlers who wear diapers wear the diapers that don't cover their belly button.

As long as your toddler is not leaking out of the diaper or the diaper is wrapping around his butt and waist just fine then the diaper is the right size.

Some 2 year olds are even in a size 5 diaper and some are in size 6 diapers.

Also Luvs size 6 diapers seem to be longer in length than other brands of diapers.

My 8 year old nephew who is incontinent and wets without control wears Luvs size 6 diapers and they fit him just fine.

Even though they come a few inches below his belly button.
