The cheapest funeral you can have is cremation without any visitation for the body.

If you have visitation for the body you need a funeral home to prepare the body and keep the body for viewing and that costs money.

So if you have cremation done and no viewing of the body then the funeral will be cheaper.

Or you can just have the funeral home prepare the body and then you pick up the body from the funeral home which is what we did with my Grandpa when he died.

Then he was taken on his old truck to the cemetery and then lowered into the ground with the help of a funeral homes lowering equipment.

The average cost for a funeral with a casket and burial is between $8,000.00 to as much as $20,000.00

Funerals where you have a casket, burial and gathering at the church and cemetery are very expensive.

If the person does not have any burial insurance or life insurance then the cost for the funeral will have to be paid for out of pocket.

You'll need to pay in full the full amount of money for the funeral costs.

However you can have a funeral without a funeral home in some states and some places allow you to just bring the body to the cemetery yourself and then have a funeral home help you lower the casket into the hole with the equipment.

We did that with my Grandpa.

We took him to the Cemetery on the back of his truck and then had a funeral home bring the burial equipment which lowers the casket and then we paid them only $500.00 for doing that which saved a lot of money.

We then used our own backhoe to cover up the grave and we just had a graveside service.

You can also do cremation which is even cheaper and then spread the ashes around somewhere or also just keep the ashes.

Cremation ranges from $500.00 to $3,000.00 depending on the cremation service.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's a very difficult thing for many of us and I completely understand people who prefer to trust funeral burial to someone else. Nowadays, there are a lot of various services and companies so if you want to find something good and reliable, check some reviews.
