Headaches and migraines are pretty similar but a headache is usually less severe in pain than a migraine and migraines usually persists longer and are usually much more painful than headaches.

Most headaches typically cause pain in areas of the body such as head, face, or upper neck while migraines cause pain in the head and forehead.

Most migraines and headaches are nothing serious and do not cause any brain damage unless the migraine lasts for way too long or the migraine is caused by something more serious such as brain cancer, brain tumor etc.

Most migraines feel like they may be damaging your brain and the migraine may feel like your brain or head is gonna explode but that is not actually gonna happen.

However while most migraines are nothing serious if the migraine lasts longer than a week or gets worse then see a doctor just to be safe.

But taking pain medicines and using a warm or cold compress can help relieve the migraines in most cases.

Blood vessels on the surface of your brain swells during a migraine but your actual brain does not swell during a normal migraine.

If you have a brain tumor and the brain tumor is a cause of the migraines then yes the brain can swell during a migraine for a brain tumor.

However for normal migraines your brain does not swell and if your brain is welling when you have a migraine then something else is likely wrong.

It's just your blood vessels that normally swell when you have a migraine.

Most migraines are nothing to worry about and most migraines will go away on their own within 1 to 3 days even without any treatment.

However if the migraine lasts longer than a week or the migraine gets worse or comes back often then you should see a doctor about the migraine.

If you're just experiencing migraines wit would first be best to see your doctor or go to a walk in clinic and let them know that you're having migraines that are not going away or the migraines are lasting too long.

Sometimes migraines can indicate brain cancer or a brain tumor or something else going on in your head but the good news is that most migraines are usually caused by stress and other less serious things.

Taking some pain medicine such as Aspirin can help relieve most migraines.

I know when I'm stressed out such as dealing with my kids they give me a migraine that can last for a few days.

So being stressed out can cause migraines because you have higher blood pressure.

If the migraine lasts longer than a week or gets worse or they come back too often then go to the doctor or hospital to get checked out.
