How old is too old to use a pacifier?

Is there an age limit to a child using a pacifier?

I would say that a child is too old for a pacifier when they turn 2 to 3 years old.

After 1 year old the child really does not need a pacifier but if the pacifier keeps the kid calm and relaxed and also helps the child sleep then I would have no issue with a a child having a pacifier until at least 3 to 4 years old.

But by 4 years old the child should not be using a pacifier especially in public because not only is the pacifier bad for the child's teeth the child can get made fun of in public when using a pacifier.

And also the child cannot take a pacifier to school.

Well I do remember as a kid a 5 year old boy in Kindergarten came to school with a pacifier and for awhile he was not made fun of.

But eventually he came to school in 1st grade and then the first grade children made fun of him.

So he threw the pacifier away and that was the end of that.

But I would not want to send my kid to school with a pacifier and have them made fun of.

At home I would probably be fine with the 5 or 6 or 7 or even 8 year old using a pacifier in the day or night but not in public.

But the pacifier should really be taken away by age 2 to 3 years old.

Well technically anyone could use a pacifier but there really is no need for a toddler or anyone to use a pacifier past the age of 2 years old.

I hate seeing 3 year olds and 4 years olds with pacifiers in public or anywhere else.

I nephew who is 7 years old still sucks on a pacifier at home or whenever he comes over here with his parents.

The 7 year old boy is still not potty trained and doesn't use the toilet at all.

His mom keeps him in diapers full time and he poops and pees in the diapers.

I found that out because I saw him holding his pee in one day when he was here and I told him he should go to the bathroom and told him where it was.

He looks at me blankly and his mom says that he doesn't use the toilet and that he has on a diaper.

I was shocked and he eventually peed the diaper.

His mom says he's not interested in the toilet and must love diapers.

She home schools him so he can wear diapers at home and anywhere else.

She buys him Pampers Cruisers Size 7 diapers because they stretch big enough to fit around his waist and also they hold up better.

I told her that she really needed to get rid of the diapers and potty train him but she says she's not gonna do that.
