When using rubbing alcohol at full strength undiluted it can damage car paint.

However when you dilute the rubbing alcohol with some water then use the rubbing alcohol on your car to clean off SAP and other residue the diluted rubbing alcohol should not damage your car paint.

I've used diluted rubbing alcohol on my car to remove tree sap and it never has damaged the car paint.

If you need to remove tree sap from your car you can use some nail polish remover and then wipe it away and the tree sap and other residue will come off the car.

Then just wash the car off with soap and water.

You can also use mineral spirits, lighter fluid and even WD 40 to safely remove tree sap and other sticky residue from a car without damaging the paint.

Just be sure to wash the car off right after you use the lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol.
