The amount of water that a 30 minute shower uses depends on your shower head.

Low flow shower heads use less water than full flow shower heads do.

If you have a low flow shower head and it uses around 2 gallons of water per minute then your shower would use 60 gallons of water in 30 minutes.

If your shower head uses 1.5 gallons of water per minute then your 30 minute shower would use around 35 to 40 gallons of water.

So a 30 minute shower which is nice doesn't use all that much water although it does seem too.

A 30 minute shower can use up all the hot water in a large water heater tank.

But that's a good reason to have an on demand water heater that heats the water as you shower or use it.
