You could die from eating metal if the metal is large enough to choke you or cut your throat on the way down.
However if you happened to swallow a tiny bit of metal that was not sharp or large enough to choke you then no you cannot die from eating that small amount of metal.
However if the metal was lead and you swallowed lead then you could die of lead poisoning.
In the year 2006 there was a child that died after the child ate a small lead charm.
The child died of lead poisoning.
So as long as you do not eat any lead then you should be fine if you swallowed a small bit of metal.
But it's still not recommended to eat any metal.
Keep all metal things or small objects including lead charms and jewels away from small children.
Also keep coins out of reach of small children.
I remember when I was 3 years old I swallowed a penny before and my mom took me to the doctor but they said I would be okay.
The doctor was correct and I've lived a long time after that and still am alive.
