Yes reflux in babies does eventually go away on it's own.

The reflux in babies and infants starts and peaks around 4 months of age and then the reflux goes away on its own between 12 and 18 months of age.

My babies had reflux and one of them had it until 13 months of age and the other had it until 17 months of age.

It's sometimes possible for babies and toddlers to experience the reflux until as late as 2 years old but it's also rare that it lasts that long.

If the reflux persists until or past 24 months of age which is 2 years old or above then it can be a sign of gastroesophageal  reflux disease which is also known as GERD.

If the reflux does last until 2 years of age or above then the toddler should see a doctor to have it checked out.
