Yes it's OK to be around someone with MRSA as long as you wash your hands and avoid touching the person with your bare hands.
If you need to be around the person with MRSA wear a mask and wear disposable gloves and wash your hands often with hot water and antibacterial soap.
If you don't really need to be around a person who has MRSA then it's best to avoid going around them until they are no longer infected or contagious with the MRSA.
It's possible to spread the MRSA infection by touching that persons skin and then touching your nose or mouth without washing your hands first.
So wash your hands often and wash the persons clothes and bedding often as well.
