Stars in space do not actually twinkle.
The stars just appear to twinkle from earth because the air movement is what causes the stars to look like they are twinkling.
The stars are just shining in reality with a steady light but the movement of air which is sometimes called turbulence in the atmosphere of Earth causes the starlight to get slightly bent as it travels from the distant star through the atmosphere down to us on the ground.
This is what makes the stars appear to twinkle from earth.
But if you could see the stars directly they would not be twinkling at all.
If the air is still then the stars would not twinkle or appear to twinkle.
