Most broken wrists do heal without surgery as long as the broken wrist is not too severe.

Most times a broken wrist will only need a simple cast put onto the wrist to align the bone in the wrist and then after a few weeks or so the broken wrist should begin healing.

After 4 to 8 weeks the broken wrist is usually fully healed but the healing time can vary from person to person.

If you notice any swelling or the pain from the broken wrists increases then you should see a doctor or go to urgent care or the emergency room to make sure the broken wrist is not becoming infected.

When you have a broken wrist you should avoid using that hand or wrist or even fingers until the broken wrist has had time to heal.

Most times you can still use your fingers even when the wrist is broken but it can be painful.

In rare cases a broken wrist may require surgery to fix but most broken wrists are healed by placing the bone back in place and using a cast to keep the broken bone in the wrist in place.
