The first sign of strep throat is throat pain that comes on quickly.

If you notice sudden throat pain then you may have strep throat or you might just have a sore throat.

When you do have strep throat you'll also usually experience not only the throat pain but also swollen and red colored tonsils, painful swallowing and tiny red spots on the area of the back of the roof of your mouth.

That is known as the soft or hard palate.

When you have strep throat you may also have white patches or streaks of pus on the tonsils or other areas of the inside of the mouth.

You might also experience fever and chills as well as nausea and sometimes vomiting.

If you have strep throat you should see a doctor for treatment.
