Some signs that a skin graft is failing are things such as.

Fever and Chills which are a sign of infection of the skin graft.

Other signs that a skin graft is failing or has failed are Redness, swelling, increasing pain, excessive bleeding, or discharge from the wounds.

Headache, muscle aches, lightheadedness, or general ill feeling.

Cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, or severe nausea or vomiting.

When and if a skin graft dies or does not take the dead skin graft could lead to infection of the skin and blood.

If your skin graft does die you need to go to the doctor and let them know.

They may need to do another skin graft and possibly give you some antibiotics.

Most skin grafts will take and live but in rare cases some skin grafts may die.

After a skin graft there should be no scabs that occur.

Eventually as the skin graft heals you should have new skin growth over the area where the skin graft took the skin from and where your skin graft was done more new skin should cover over the area.

Skin grafts should not scab over.

Also after a skin graft the skin should eventually grow back after the skin graft.

It can take around 6 months to a year to see most of the skin grow back over the area where the skin was taken for the skin graft.

It took myself a year to see the skin fully grow back over the area where the skin was taken for my skin graft.

Now it's like I never had a skin graft done.

No having skin grafting done is not painful because when you have skin grafting surgery done the surgeon or doctor will put you under general anesthesia.

This means that you will be asleep during the skin grafting procedure and won't be aware of anything and should feel no pain.

When I had skin grafting done I experienced no pain during the surgery but did experience some slight pain when I woke up from skin grafting surgery.

It was not bad pain but it was a bit uncomfortable.

Some slight bleeding with a skin graft is normal and nothing to worry about.

When I had a skin graft done a few years ago the doctor said that it was normal to expect some slight bleeding with the skin graft.

The doctor said that I should expect some slight bleeding, swelling, bruising, redness, and discomfort for awhile after the skin graft.

If the skin graft bleeding gets worse then you should go to the emergency room or urgent care or a walk in clinic.

If the bleeding with the skin graft is more severe go to the emergency room.

But if it's just lightly bleeding then it's normal and nothing to worry about.
