To keep squirrels from digging up your plants make a physical barrier around the plants to keep the squirrels from making contact with the plants.

To create a physical barrier around your plants to keep squirrels out you can use something such as as plastic netting, fencing, or chicken wire, to help keep the squirrels out.

Or put some spikes such as squirrel spikes around the plants which will deter the squirrels.

Another option is to use an ultrasonic device that emits a sound that the squirrels can hear and they hate it and will run away.

Also if you're not already using mulch around the soil of the plants you should to help protect them.

Or you can even use a motion activated sprinkler that will spray the squirrels when they come near the plants.

The sprinklers will come on and the squirrels will run off.
