Yes a bad alternator that is not charging the battery can ruin the battery.

When a cars battery keeps going dead and not getting the proper charge then yes the battery can go bad much quicker than it would if the alternator was good.

The vehicle needs a good working alternator to charge the battery back up and keep the battery charged.

The alternator also supplies power to your radio, lights, headlights, tail lights, ignition coil, fuel pump etc to keep your engine running.

When the alternator is not charging or producing voltage then it can affect the running performance on your engine.

After awhile of your battery going dead often then your battery can die and not be able to be jump started or charged back up again.

So get the alternator replaced.

The Alternator should be putting out at least 14 volts to 14.5 volts which you can test with a volt meter.
