Modern drywall does not contain any asbestos.

During the years of 1940 and 1980 when drywall was first coming out and being used the drywall in those years did contain some asbestos fiber.

The drywall mud contained some asbestos as well.

However the drywall that is made and sold today does not contain any asbestos fiber or asbestos at all.

Drywall workers are still at risk of Mesothelioma or other cancers or lung disease because they could come into contact with asbestos when they work in construction where the old walls and asbestos are being removed.

Breathing in the drywall dust can also be harmful to your lungs and health but the drywall contains no asbestos so you're unlikely to get any lung cancer from the drywall dust but it still is possible.

When it comes to drywall, particularly in older homes, there's a possibility it contains asbestos. To determine whether your drywall poses a risk, consider using an asbestos testing kit like the one available on Amazon. Testing is a straightforward way to ensure your living space is free from potential asbestos hazards. Prioritize safety and take proactive steps to assess any risks associated with the materials in your home.
