For small amounts of tarter on your teeth the tarter remover is not as painful but when you have larger amounts of tarter on your teeth that need removed then the tarter removal can be painful.
But it's not a really bad experience.

Tarter is also known as Calculus which cannot be removed with a toothbrush and only a dental professional can remove the tarter or Calculus during an oral cleaning.
