Having bad credit does affect your car insurance rates but not too much.

You can still get car insurance even when you have bad credit.

But when you have bad credit you can expect to pay around 10 to 20 percent more on your car insurance than someone who has good credit.

When you sign up for car insurance the car insurance company will lookup your credit score to determine how high risk you are.

The lower your credit score the higher your car insurance will usually be.

But as you are with the car insurance company for more than 5 years then your insurance rates may drop even when your credit score is still bad.

So you might pay $100.00 to $300.00 more per year for your car insurance if you have bad credit.
