Yes cord blood can be used to treat Leukemia cancer and the cord blood has been used since the early 1990's for treating both adult leukemia cancer and child leukemia cancer.

So if you can it's a good idea to save and store cord blood using cord blood banking so that in the rare case a child has cancer then it can almost always be cured with a cord blood transplant.

If you have family that has cancer or had cancer then it's even better to do cord blood banking.

Health insurance will sometimes cover the cost of cord blood banking if the beneficiary of the cord blood requires a transplant of the cord blood.

However if you just want to store the cord blood using cord blood banking for future use as a preventative measure then the health insurance will not cover the cost of the cord blood banking.

If that is the case then you'll have to pay for the cord blood banking from your own pocket.

The cost of cord blood banking can vary from location to location but it's not all that expensive to store cord blood.

The cost of cord blood banking ranges between $1,400.00 and $2,300.00 for collecting, testing, and registering, plus between $95.00 and $125.00 per year for storing.

The biggest cost of the cord blood banking is the collecting, testing and registering the cord blood then the yearly cost after that is not all that expensive.

There is public cord blood banking as well which is free but the private cord blood banking is much better.
