When you see a group of dogs the group of dogs are called a pack.
Just like when you see a group of wolves they are called and referred to as being a pack of wolves.
The dogs that are hanging around in groups is called a pack of dogs just like a pack of wolves.
Wolves are a breed of wild dog so they both like to get into groups when they are around each other.
Wolves however are usually stronger than most dogs and if a dog and wolf came up against each other and began fighting then the wolf would most likely win the fight and kill the dog.
