You can put lotion on a newborn if you want too and need to so that the skin of the newborn doesn't dry out and crack.

But if you do use lotion on a newborn make sure you use a lotion that does not have perfume or dyes, such as Aquaphor or Eucerin.

Most Newborn babies can get by without any lotion but it's okay to use lotion on the newborn if you want too.

I would avoid putting any lotion on the newborns hands or the babies hands because they put their hands in their mouths and then they can get that lotion in their mouth.

If you do put lotion on the newborn or babies hands put gloves or mittens on them to avoid them putting the hands in their mouths.

Also do not put any lotion on the babies or newborns face.
