Some scrap metal yards do buy tin food cans.
However they usually will not buy the tin food cans in small quantities.
Scrap metal such as scrap iron and scrap tin is bought in large quantities and you usually need around 500 lbs to 1,000 to 2,000 lbs of scrap tin or scrap iron to make the trip to the scrap yard worth it.
So if you just have a small container of tin food cans then you likely wouldn't even make $1.00 so it would probably be better to just put them in a recycling bin.
If you have other scrap metal such as appliances, etc that make a good load of scrap tin then you could add those scrap tin food cans to the scrap metal load and then get the money from the rest of the load.
Selling scrap tin can be worth it but you really need tons in weight of scrap tin and iron to make a decent amount of money from it.
