Yes wool dryer balls do work great for removing pet hair from clothing in the dryer.
Before washing the clothes with the pet hair on them take a lint roller and or a pet hair brush to help loosen up the pet hair from the clothing and get as much of the pet hair off the clothing with your hands and the brush or lint roller as possible.
Then wash the clothing in the washing machine.
When you're done washing the clothing then throw the clothing into the dryer and use a dryer sheet or a wool dryer ball.
In my experience I've had great results using wool dryer balls to remove pet hair from clothing.
It works great.
