You should never put any blankets or sheets in the bassinet and only use what is provided with the bassinet.

Putting a blanket, sheet or pillow, toys etc in the bassinet with the baby can increase the risk of SIDS which can kill your baby.

So you want to avoid any soften objects if you're baby is sleeping in a bassinet.

That goes for playpens and cribs as well when the baby is under 1 year old.

When the baby gets to 1 year or above then they can usually have blankets, soft toys etc in the crib or playpen with them.

You can put your baby in a sleep sack or blanket sleepers to keep your baby warm when they are too young for blankets in the crib or bassinet.
