Septic tanks do not smell bad as long as the septic tank is not backed up or is operating properly.

If the septic tank smells bad and you smell sewage outside your house near your septic tank you smell sewage smell inside your home in the drains then something is wrong with the septic tank and you should inspect it or get someone to look at it.

If you haven't had your septic tank pumped out yet in 5 or 10 years then it's time to pump the septic tank even when you use RidX or other septic tank chemicals.

To keep a septic tank operating properly the septic tank needs to be pumped out every 5 to 8 years depending on the usage.

It should only cost around $50.00 to $100.00 to pump a septic tank.

You might also have pipes that have roots in them or clogged sewer pipes as well causing the septic tank to smell.

The sewer pipes leading from your septic tank should also have holes in them to allow the water to drain out into the soil.

If the holes become clogged then the water cannot drain out properly which leads to a backup of the septic tank which can cause the septic tank to smell bad.
