Pacifiers will not melt in boiling water as long as you don't leave the pacifier in the boiling water for too long.

When using boiling water to clean and sterilize a pacifier you get the water up to a boiling temperature and then place the pacifier into the boiling water for 5 minutes.

If you leave the pacifier in the boiling water for longer than 5 minutes then it can begin to melt which has happened to me.

But as long as you watch the pacifier in the boiling water and remove it within 5 minutes then the pacifier should be just fine.

I use a pair of tongs or at least I did when my kids were using pacifiers and would use the metal tongs to dip the pacifier in the boiling water and then use the tongs to pull the pacifier back out of the boiling water.

I did this for baby bottle nipples as well especially when my kids were sick with the flu or cold as the pacifiers and bottle nipples would have germs and possible viruses on them so using boiling water kills the germs and bacteria.
