Years ago before the invention of disposable diapers the mothers of babies diapered their babies using things such as milkweed leaf wraps, animal skins, and moss or grass.
That is even before the coming of or invention of cloth diapers that we still use today.
When cloth diapers came along the diapering became much better and much easier than it was when they used milkweed leaf wraps, animal skins and moss or the grass as diapers.
I would think that with those kind of materials that the baby would be better off not wearing a diaper as it likely leaked at least urine.
Even though we still have cloth diapers and they were a great invention at the time the disposable diapers are now much better and keep the babies skin drier and are more sanitary for the baby to wear and use and then dispose of.
Also cloth diapers are a lot of work to clean and you don't really save any money.
