Yes you can microwave a hot glue stick in a microwave safe container and then use something to spread the hot melted glue on whatever you're gluing together.
I would not recommend using the microwave you cook your food in though because it could make your microwave smell like hot glue.
Then that hot glue smell might make your food taste bad.
But you certainly can use the microwave to melt hot glue but watch the microwave and check on the melted glue often.
Microwave the hot glue sticks in 20 to 30 second intervals and check the hot glue after that time to make sure it doesn't get too hot.
