When installing a new heater core or replacing heater hoses on the engine to the heater core it does not matter which hose goes where on the heater core or engine.

The coolant that is flowing from the engine and into the heater core and back doesn't care which way it goes through the heater core.

So there's really no way to mess up or get it wrong when you install the heater hoses as it doesn't matter.

If your heater is not throwing out heat then the heater core is bad or clogged.

If your car or vehicle is over 10 years old and you're replacing the heater hoses it might be a good idea to replace the heater core as well especially if your heater is not blowing out as hot as it was before.

They can also eventually leak inside the car so after 10 years I go ahead and order a new heater core online and replace it.

It can sometimes be hard to access the heater core but it's worth it to replace it for peace of mind and to make sure my heater is gonna work.
