The reason that airplane tires smoke upon landing is due to friction from the tire and the runway when it lands.

When the airplane lands the tires are taking a lot of force and are skidding for awhile before they start to spin so when the airplane tires are skidding they smoke when the airplane lands.

That's very normal if you see an airplane with it's tires smoking when it's landing and that makes those airplane tires wear out faster.

Airplane tires don't do much spinning down the runway but only do so upon landing, taxing, or taking off down the runway.

Other than that the airplane tires are mostly up and off the runway.

So the skidding wears the airplane tires out much faster.
