When babies are under 1 year old they really don't need a nightlight to help them sleep and actually the nightlight could keep the baby awake more than it helps them sleep.

If your baby is having trouble sleeping though and they don't have a nightlight them sometimes a baby will sleep better with a nightlight than they do without one.

My babies didn't really need a nightlight until they were around 13 months of age and then they slept with a nightlight until 10 years old.

Some kids may stop needing a nightlight at age 4 and some as late as age 6 or 7 years old.

Babies under a year old will keep the parents awake at night for at least the 1st 6 months of the babies life because they will cry through the night needing a diaper change, feeding, or just want to be cuddled.
