Yes in some places you can get a fine and even some jail time for not shoveling snow from your sidewalk.

I think it's absurd that you could actually get a fine and face jail time for not getting rid of snow from a sidewalk but in some places you can.

You'd have to check with your local city ordinances as some will state that by city ordinance and law for the city you must keep the sidewalks free and clear of snow, ice etc and failure to remove snow from your sidewalk could result in a fine being issued.

I've never lived somewhere that they fined you for not removing or shoveling snow from the snow but there are places like that.

I would never want to live there though because I never shovel the sidewalk and only shovel the driveway and the walk up to my door.

The fine for not shoveling a sidewalk in some places is $100.00 for the first offense and then $1,000.00 the second offense and then on the 3rd offense you usually get the $1,000.00 fine or more and face up to 90 days in county jail.
