The cost to have an electric meter box replaced on your home or business can vary from location to location.
When I bought a house and it needed a new electric meter box and wire clear up to the head where the electric connected to the utility lines it cost me $1,500.00 for a licensed electrician to do the work.
The work only took him around 2 hours at most to complete and I thought that was expensive but I didn't know how to do it nor did my husband so I hired it out to a licensed electrician and paid the money to have it done.
I didn't know it at the time but my brother said he could have done it and would have only charged me $500.00 at most.
The box and wire should have only cost around $100.00 to $150.00 at most.
You can install the electric meter box yourself if you know what you're doing but you need to have the electric company cut the wire to your meter box so that it's not electrified and then they will come back and hook it back up for you.
