Electric shocks in the head or brain zaps are usually not serious and are sometimes caused by things such as stress, anxiety, insomnia, not enough sleep, exhaustion etc.

Sometimes brain zaps or electric shocks in the head happen because of side effects of medication, withdrawing from medication, Chronic stress (hyperstimulation), including the stress caused by anxiety.

Whenever I'm stressed I would get those brain zaps and after I stopped being stressed out the brain zaps or electric shocks went away.

I sometimes also get the brain zaps or electric brain shocks when I don't get enough sleep so make sure you're also getting enough sleep.

If you're stressed though that could be a cause of the brain zaps and although the brain zaps are annoying they are not harmful.
