If the fallen tree fell on a structure such as the tree has fell on your home that is insured through the insurance company then homeowners insurance will usually pay for the cost of the tree removal that has fallen on your home.

If the tree just fell down and didn't hurt a garage or home and is just laying there and hasn't damaged anything then homeowners insurance will not pay for the fallen tree removal.

In that case the fallen tree removal has to come out of the homeowners pocket for the cost involved.

If you cannot afford to have a tree removal service cut the fall tree up and it hasn't fallen on a house or other structure you can usually get someone with a chainsaw to come out and do the job cheaper than a tree removal service.

Or advertise on Craigslist that they can cut the wood up for free as firewood.

Sometimes that will get the tree out of your yard.

I did that before and two guys came with their chainsaws and cut the tree up and hauled it away for firewood.
