After a 72 hour psych hold you are then released upon the doctors request when you are no longer seen as a threat to yourself or others.

Once you can show that you're not at risk of suicide anymore or not at risk of harming other people then you will be given your stuff and clothes back and then you can get discharged and sign discharge papers from the psych ward and then you walk out of the psych ward.

The psych ward can hold you for 72 hours and then must release you unless a court order tells them to keep you longer.

I was baker acted a few years ago and had no issues with getting employment after the baker act was done to me.

I was told by a lawyer that the baker act does not show up on a background check either for guns or employment.

You're not actually being arrested even though you'll be handcuffed by the police to be taken to the mental hospital which is what happened to me.

After around 72 hours then if you're not being seen as a threat to yourself or others they will release you and you go back on your way.

You can still have visitors if you've been Baker Acted and sent to a mental health hospital.

And you can visit someone who is baker acted as well as long as you go during visitor hours and it's usually just the close family that can visit someone who is baker acted but they can allow others to see the person who is baker acted as long as they get permission from the person who is baker acted.

Just saying you want to die can get you baker acted so don't do that especially on camera.

I once when living in Florida was talking to my sister on the phone and I told her I wanted to die and I was feeling depressed and then after that police showed up at my door and I told them to just leave and that I just wanted to lay there and die.

The officer baker acted me and took me away to a mental health hospital for 72 hours and I was on suicide watch.

I wasn't gonna actually kill myself nor could I do so and I was just saying things like I would say when I'm sick with the flu I would also sometimes say I wanted to die.

I didn't say I was gonna kill myself but that I just wanted to die.
