Most toddlers do need naps to keep them from being cranky through the day.

If your toddler is getting upset and cranky during the day it's likely the toddler needs a nap and when they do get a nap and sleep they will be less cranky and upset.

Sometimes when toddlers throw tantrums a good nap is usually what they need but if the toddler resists taking the nap you shouldn't force them to take the nap as it will just make the tantrums worse.

Some toddlers need naps from age 1 to as late as age 3 or 4 while some toddlers stop napping as early as age 2.

If the toddler doesn't seem tired then they don't need a nap but if the toddler does seem tired they need a nap.

Not all toddlers require naps but a good nap is good for both you and the toddler so if you can try to catch some sleep with a quick nap when your toddler goes down for a nap or at least get some house work or alone time.
