When sleeping pills are taken short term as needed to cure occasional insomnia the sleeping pills are safe and usually you won't experience any or much side effects when taking sleeping pills.

If you take sleeping pills longer than a few weeks or a month straight then you might experience some side effects and they might actually make your insomnia worse because you become dependent on the sleeping pills to sleep.

Some side effects of long term sleeping pills use are dry mouth or dry throat, dizziness, daytime drowsiness, diarrhea, constipation, difficulty keeping your balance and changes in your appetite or even a loss of appetite or increased appetite.

Other side effects of long term sleeping pill use are burning or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs.

If you experience any of those side effects when taking sleeping pills you should probably stop taking the sleeping pills and talk with your doctor.

Sleeping pills should really only be used as a last resort for insomnia and it's best to try other natural ways of falling asleep.

But sometimes sleeping pills are required for you to fall asleep because without sleep your health declines and you lose energy and concentration as well.
