Stick deodorant can be brought onto the plane in either your carry on baggage or checked baggage and is not restricted like the liquids are to 3.4 ounces.
If you have spray or gelled deodorant then it is subject to the restrictions of 3.4 ounces and can be brought onto the plane as well.
So if you have spray or gel deodorant make sure it goes in a plastic bag and only bring enough onto the plane that is reasonable.
But you can bring as much stick deodorant onto the plane as you want too.
I've brought both stick deodorant and gel or spray deodorant onto the plane a lot and never had any issues.
