Most children or toddlers will stop needing to nap by the time they are 2 years old.

However some toddlers may still need to nap or want to nap even at age 3 and if they are tired and cranky then a nap is what they should get.

Sometimes just having the toddler take a nap will stop a tantrum because sometimes toddlers will get frustrated and throw tantrums because they are tired.

Some children will throw a fit until they actually get tired enough and then fall asleep and nap on their own.

My son stopped napping by age 3 while my other son stopped napping at age 2.

It's all up to the individual child and if they need a nap then they need a nap.

If the child won't nap though then don't force it.
