Some babies can begin saying mama as early as 8 months of age but some babies may not say mama until 10 to 12 months of age.

I was surprised when my first born son reached 8 months of age and said mama as I used to try to get him to say it and eventually he did.

That was a wonderful feeling when he said mama and then by 10 months he started saying dada and it will be a great feeling that you should never forget.

But all babies are different and if your baby doesn't say mama at 8 or 10 months it's normal and some may not say mama or dada until 12 months of age.

Babies will then begin talking more and more by 14 months of age and beyond.

They may not know enough words though and talk correctly until 4 or 5 years of age and be able pronounce words properly.

Continue to read to your baby though and they will learn to read and talk and pronounce words and before you know it they will be talking and you'll be wondering how you can keep them quiet.
