Dystonia is part of Parkinson's disease and when you have Dystonia it's usually an early symptom of the person developing Parkinson's disease.

Dystonia is a condition that causes a person to have sustained or repetitive muscle twisting, spasms or cramps.

The problems can occur at different times of day and in different stages of Parkinson's disease.

Dystonia can be the early onset of Parkinson's disease while some people may just suffer from the Dystonia and never get the Parkinson's disease while others may have the Dystonia and then years later develop the Parkinson's disease.

If you do have Dystonia then you can usually expect to get the more severe Parkinson's disease some years later which can be a few years later or even 5 or 10 years later.
