Turn signals have been available for cars since 1920.

Protex Safety Signal Company introduced flashing turn signals for cars in the year 1920 but they were not mandatory at that time.

Then in 1925 Edgar A. Walz secured a patent for turn signals and tried to market it to major car manufacturers which it then took off.

It wasn't until the 1960s that turn signals on vehicles became mandatory and now it's illegal to not use your turn signals or have turn signals that are not working.

You can get a ticket if your turn signals are not working so make sure that all your turn signals on both the back and front are working properly.

In 1960 Turn Signals became standard equipment on most cars during the 1960s and in 1968 the federal government required turn signals on cars and vehicles and the front turn signals have an amber-colored lens while the rear could be either red or amber.
