The length of time your foot stays swollen after bunion surgery varies but for most people the swelling of the foot after bunion surgery only lasts for 6 to 9 months.

After 6 to 9 months from the date of bunion surgery the foot should be healed and the swelling should go down and if it hasn't gone down in swelling then you should see your doctor.

Sometimes for some people the foot is healed after 3 months from the date of bunion surgery and sometimes you might experience some pain for another 3 months or so.

In my experience though the swelling started going down after 5 months and after 9 months the swelling was completely gone.

The pain, swelling and other irritation was aggravating but it was worth it to have the bunions gone and my feet look much better as well.
