Rain water that comes directly from the sky is usually pretty pure drinking water and safe to drink.
The rain water that falls from the sky is likely much cleaner and safer than any city tap water coming out of your faucet because it does not contain chemicals such as chlorine which can make you sick.
I like to drink rainwater when it comes out of the sky and it makes great coffee and tea as well.
I set a clean container outside to catch rainwater in including a clean drinking glass and that nice fresh rainwater that falls out of the sky is better in my opinion than the water that comes out of my faucet.
The natural rain water that is free of chlorine is also good for your gardens and house plants so it's a good idea to catch the rainwater in buckets or in drinking jugs for both yourself and your plants.
However I would not drink rainwater that came out of my gutter off my roof because it could be contaminated with bird poop and other debris but if you just get it out of the sky then it's safe to drink the rainwater.
