Bunions which are a deformity of the feet and toes will not go away on their own and will usually just get worse as you get older and your feet grows.

Bunions can happen at birth and be hereditary or they can happen from ill fitting shoes such as when you wear small shoes as a kid that do not fit your properly or you wear the shoes backwards.

I was born with bunions and crooked toes and they got worse the older I got and I always wore good fitting shoes but my bunions were a result of something that occurred during my birth and growing inside my mom.

Bunions can be hereditary and if your mother or father or someone in your family has been born with bunions then you could have gotten bunions from one of them.

My mother has bunions and her feet are almost crooked as well and I was born with bunions and crooked toes and the big toes that bent inwards towards the little toes.

My toes have always been like that even as a baby but they got worse as I got older and my son has the same looking toes.

I got tired of looking at my toes like that so I had bunion surgery to fix it and when my son gets old enough I have money saved to have his bunions fixed if he wants too as well.

If not then he can have the money I saved for his bunion surgery.

After you have bunion surgery done it can take between 4 to 6 months to fully recover from the bunion surgery.

After 4 months though you should be either fully recovered or at least nearly recovered from the bunion surgery and can begin returning to your normal activities.

After 6 months you can usually return fully to your normal activities and it should be healed.

I had bunion surgery done on both feet at the same time and after 6 months I was fully recovered and experienced no pain.

When having bunion surgery done you can either opt to have one bunion surgery done on one foot at a time and come back later and have the other bunion fixed during a second bunion surgery session.

Or you can have both bunions removed and repaired on both feet at the same time if you want too.

I had both feet worked on to remove both bunions at the same time because I just wanted to get it over with and start my recovery.

But you can do it either way.

Minimally invasive bunion surgery is usually pretty successful if the bunions are not too severe and you only need the bunion fixed a little bit.

If you have more severe bunions then more involved surgery will usually be needed to correct the bunions and if it's causing you pain or you just don't like looking at the bunions then it can be worth it to have bunion surgery done.

I experienced some pain for a few weeks after bunion surgery but it was still worth it to correct my terrible looking bunions that made it hard to fit shoes as well.

I love sandals but hated wearing them in public with my crooked toes and bunions but now my toes are straight and look better so I wear sandals more often in the summertime.

The average cost of minimally invasive bunion surgery cost between $350.00 to $1,000.00 depending on how severe the bunion is and what needs done to correct it.

More involved bunion surgery can cost from $3,000.00 to $10,000.00 depending on the complexity of the bunion surgery and the surgeon doing it.

If the bunions are causing you pain then it's considered medical surgery and not cosmetic so in that case a health insurance plan will usually cover the cost of your bunion surgery.

If it's just cosmetic though the bunion surgery is usually not covered under most health insurance plans and if so then you'd need to pay out of pocket for the bunion surgery.

I had bunions with my toes really crooked and the big toes were grown outwards and it looked really bad and I just couldn't stand it so I took myself in and had bunion surgery done and it cost me $3,000.00 to have it done but to me it was well worth it because I feel much better and my toes look better.
