When your kid or child is still in diapers and not potty trained yet there's no need to change the wet diaper right away.

Although if the diaper is soaked and really wet when you notice the diaper is wet then it needs changed immediately to prevent a diaper rash.

But if the kid has just peed in the diaper once or twice and it's only been an hour or 2 hours then there's no need to change the diaper right then.

Diapers are very absorbent and they really do not feel wet when they have a wet diaper.

Even when you remove the wet diaper their skin will usually be dry because all the urine will be absorbed into the diaper.

If you changed diapers right away after they wet you would go through a lot of diapers.

At most a 2 or 3 year old should only need about 4 to 5 diaper changes per day.

A 1 year old or under may need 6 or even 10 diaper changes per day because they wet more often than older kids do.

As long as you check the kids diaper every 3 hours minimum and change it at that time or when they've wet enough to soak the diaper then you're doing okay.
